Briggs Hopson proudly serves as the Mississippi State Senator for District 23. He currently serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, and he is also a member of the committees on Education,
Judiciary, and Public Health.
Senator Hopson currently serves on the NCSL Foundation Board of Directors and on the Legislative Advisory Council for the Southern Regional Education Board. He is an Executive Committee member of the Energy Council and the National Conference of State Legislatures, where he has served as a Co-Chair of the Committee on Law and Criminal Justice and the International Legislative Advisory Council.
Hopson has previously served as an Executive Committee member on the National Conference of State Legislatures and as a National Uniform Law Commissioner.
Hopson is also a partner in the Vicksburg, Mississippi, law firm of Teller, Hopson
& Schrader, LLP, practicing in the areas of litigation, business law, school law, healthcare
law, among other areas. He received a B.B.A. in 1987 and his J.D. in 1990 from the
University of Mississippi, and is a former Adjunct Professor of Law at the Mississippi
College School of Law.
Hopson has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Way and the Good Shepherd Community Center in Vicksburg.
He and his wife, Alison (Ali), are parents of three children.
